Why subscribe?

Remember newspapers? I was one of those people who wrote for them, covering music, culture and TV in places like Omaha, Hartford and Washington, D.C. After freelancing for places like The Washington Post, Entertainment Weekly and TV Guide in the past decade, I’ve been writing regularly for Smithsonian Magazine online (where I am the museums correspondent, of all things), AARP the Magazine (the largest circulation magazine in the U.S. I’m told), TV Insider and Media Village.

I have some other thoughts, though, about what’s on TV, the rock shows I get out to see, theater, indie movies, art and just general observations about life today. And you probably need those, right? Those general observations? I think you do. It always makes for better writing when you imagine there’s someone actually reading. So please do.
